This is a timeline of ladies fashion from 1900 to 1910 and each year there is a subtle difference from the very wide skirts and the difference in waistline. At the beginning of the decade there was full skirts and little definition and that went to the famous S-curve showing off the tiny waist and towards the end the skirt became more straight with a more natural waistline visible.
This is a picture showing how the corset drew in the waist to make it as small as possible. These are the impossible lengths that women went to to be fashionable giving very little freedom and restricting movement. Was this another way that women were controlled in the early decades and constricting them in clothes the same as in society.

This picture shows the difference in fashions from 1900 to 1950 and the difference in changes of the hemline as it went from floor length to just above the knee and then above the knee to longer again. It also shows that a lot of fashions can come back into style.
This is Terrizae's Western fashion timeline and shows the evolution of fashion from the very glamorous and luxurious and showing how it has gradually simplified to the world of today.
This shows fashions from 1700 to fashion today and the main theory that comes from this picture is the way that fashion has changed to center around comfort and convenience.

This is another timeline picture showing the fashions from 1900 to the present.
This picture shows the corset and how it changed to modify the female silhouette as this was the foundation of early fashions and a necessity for all women. I would like to focus on this staple piece of the early 20th century. The corset has a rich history and many moral and ethical issues surrounding it including feminism.
